Too many young people in our region are brimming with talent but locked out of opportunities. Right now, thousands face barriers to education, employment and training, with some struggling to see where they belong in a rapidly changing world.
That’s why Spark Youth has launched its brand new Youth Hub, a dynamic space where young people are given the tools, confidence, and connections to take charge of their futures. The Hub officially opened with the support of Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, who joined business leaders, national executives, and community partners to celebrate the start of a new chapter.
Since its formation in 2020, as the Youth Employment Hub for Wirral (in partnership with DWP), Spark Youth has worked with almost 1,700 young people. Already, 53% of them are no longer NEET (not in education, employment, or training). Behind every number is a young person who has built skills, found belief in themselves, and stepped into new opportunities; whether that’s landing their first job, starting training, or launching an enterprise of their own.
At Spark, we know there’s no one size fits all. Some of the young people we work with are care experienced, some have faced homelessness and others are simply unsure of their next step. What unites them is the need for support that sees them as individuals. Our holistic approach builds both employability and entrepreneurship, while nurturing resilience, confidence and a sense of belonging.
Mayor Steve Rotheram said:
“Our young people are the future of the Liverpool City Region and I want to help give them the best possible start in life, no matter their background or circumstances. We know that talent is everywhere in our region but, too often, opportunity isn’t. That’s why I’m so please to see organisations like Spark Youth leading the way with practical, life-changing support that gives young people the tools and confidence to thrive.
By working together with our local businesses and communities, we can make sure every young person has the chance to succeed, to contribute, and to realise their potential. This new Youth Hub is a huge step forward in that journey.”
The Liverpool City Region has already become one of eight Youth Guarantee Trailblazers nationally, positioning our area at the forefront of transforming youth employment. Spark Youth is proud to be at the heart of this shift; opening doors into training, mentoring, enterprise and real-world experience.
Kevin Rodgers, CEO of Spark Youth, added:
“This Hub is more than just a building: it’s a catalyst for change. It’s a place where young people are not just supported to find work, but to grow, to be heard and to belong. By bridging communities, businesses, and the next generation of the workforce, we are creating a movement that will shape the future of our region.”
The Spark Youth Hub isn’t just about today, it’s about building the future of opportunity. But we can’t do it alone. We’re calling on businesses, investors, and community leaders to join us in backing young people. Together, we can turn untapped potential into progress and ensure no young person is left behind.
